Last spring, while watching “the Jerk” for the first time in three or four years, I realized that the beach scene is one of the most romantic moments of film history. I became obsessed with the song and downloaded every version I could find, but none of them lived up to the Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters version.
A few days went by and I couldn’t get the song out of my head. So I learned the song on the uke, and went over to Mel and Brandon’s apartment and made them and Rachel learn the song. They learned it in about 30 minutes and then we took another 30 minutes to record it.
Here it is, not nearly as good as the movie version but it does have one of my favorite singers on it.
